After you get over the fact that you’re eating outside behind a wrought iron security fence, you’ll forget about the city buses zooming by 20 feet away from where you’re sitting, the homeless guy changing the channel on the TV in the patio, and the “Little Ethiopia” street sign juxtapositioned above the Meaty Meat sign. |

I must have driven by this place a million times and have wondered about it just as many times. I have found I am not alone in this. In giving myself into the curiosity, I have found the holy grail of burgers (in LA, at least. Joe’s Cable Car in San Francisco still rules.). The burger was exactly how I like it…well-done but juicy and well-seasoned without being salty, with American cheese and lettuce, a fried egg, (hold the pickles, tomatoes and onions) and served with steak fries that were crunchy on the outside, soft inside. How they make their burgers so flavorful is a little suspect (brings back memories of Motel Hell), but I can’t even begin to go there… |
